2010 Australian American Leadership Dialogue

Washington DC, 12 - 14 July

The eighteenth annual bipartisan Australian American Leadership Dialogue was held in Washington DC, 12 - 14 July.

Functions for the 100+ Australian and American delegates were held at the State Department, Library of Congress and residence of the Australian Ambassador to the United States, The Hon. Kim Beazley.

The agenda was wide ranging - from national security, combating global terrorism, regional conflicts and their resolution, shared global economic challenges, universal access to education and life's opportunities, healthcare, robotics in warfare, broadband and the digital economy, energy / climate change / technology / innovation and intergenerational leadership.

Briefings highlighted officials from the White House, National Security Council, Energy and State - including Secretary of State Hillary Clinton who called upon delegates to address the importance of democracy in advancing global prosperity, security and human freedom.

Delegates were brought up to date with political developments in both countries.

Twenty Australians met with twenty five American delegates to the Young Leadership Dialogue, the tangible expression of our commitment to the intergenerational imperative.
