Julie Singer Scanlan AO is Vice Chair and CEO of the Australian American Education Leadership Foundation, AAELF, the leading private diplomatic initiative which brings together Australian and American leaders from government, enterprise, media, education and the community to help review and refine the parameters of the bilateral relationship.

The Leadership Dialogue is the only non-US NGO ever to have been accorded the privilege of private White House briefings. Julie is also on the Board of the New York Global Leaders Dialogue and a member of the International Women’s Forum (IWF). She has been a regular participant in the Forbes Women’s Summit since 2013.

She is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors Julie has a dual degree in broadcast communications and psychology from Newhouse School at Syracuse University, New York where she serves on the Global Advisory Board.

From 1975 to 1980, she worked for NBC and ABC television affiliates in the USA as journalist, news anchor and documentary producer.

In 1980, Julie became Vice-President of Hill & Knowlton Pty Ltd, then the world’s largest public affairs and public relations company.

In 1986, Julie moved to Sydney, where she became Chief Executive of Australian Imagemakers. Her clients comprised leaders from business, and both sides of politics and academia.

Julie and her husband Phil reside in Melbourne, the headquarters of the AAELF. Their seven children and eight grandchildren are living in Australia, the US and the UK.
