The Young Leadership Dialogue (YLD) AU Retreat was held in Canberra in early February. The largest YLD delegation, with more than 60 young leaders from across Australia, met for the first time to work together on a challenging three-day leadership program that included global thought leaders from government, industry, media, defence, and academia.

Highlights of the program included site visits to Australian Parliament House (APH) and dialogue with current and past politicians, to learn about their portfolios with relevance to the bilateral AU/US alliance.

Several journalists provided insights on the coalface of politics, particularly before the impending 2025 Aus Federal Election.

Another highlight for the YLD delegates was spending the afternoon at Royal Military College Duntroon to participate in a Leadership Self-Assessment program used by the Army to determine motivations, behaviours, and relationship dynamics in teams and times of conflict.
