The West Coast Leadership Dialogue (WCLD), established in 2007, explores the innovative technologies that are transforming our world.

Collaborating with Stanford University, the University of California San Diego, and Arizona State University, the WCLD examines cutting-edge developments and Australian and United States cooperation in artificial intelligence and machine learning, biotechnology and health innovation, space technology, quantum computing, and STEM education. Through exclusive site-visits to organisations such as Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Zoom, and NASA, delegates gain first-hand insight into how these transformative technologies are being developed and applied.

The WCLD builds collaborative networks between industry, government, defence, and academia, to build collaborative networks that advance bilateral cooperation in science and technology. By connecting Australian and American innovators, policymakers, and researchers, the dialogue ensures participants remain at the forefront of global technological developments while exploring how these advances can benefit both nations and contribute to shared security and prosperity.

The WCLD is a masterclass in soft diplomacy, making meaningful connections in both countries, and deepening knowledge of business and political leaders in emerging areas of our society and economy.
