Since 2008, the Honolulu Leadership Dialogue (HLD) has engaged decision makers in discussions surrounding defence and security in the Indo-Pacific, serving as a crucial platform for Australia and the United States to collaboratively address these most pressing issues.
The HLD is a deeply stimulating event – one that helps to challenge assumptions, open new lines of thinking, and establish new relationships focussed on the vital role of Australian-American cooperation as the foundation for democracy, openness, and stability in the Indo-Pacific.
The HLD engages with the US Indo-Pacific Command, the East-West Center and Australian Defence specialists to discuss geostrategic challenges, disruptive technologies, deterrence, and posture in the Indo-Pacific region. Ongoing partnerships with Pacific leaders explore ways to ensure economic, climate and national security and resilience, while engagement with organisations such as US Pacific Fleet, Coast Guard, and Space Force, explores new technological approaches to national security across the region.
