Both Australia and the U.S. stand committed with the international community in celebrating the bold leadership of women and girls around the world.

Last summer, our countries celebrated the inaugural Australia-U.S. Strategic Dialogue on Gender Equality. This was a big step that elevated our countries’ commitments to advancing the inclusion and empowerment of women and girls. Now, as we approach March 8, in the words of Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, International Women’s Day “is an opportunity for all of us to recognize the progress that women are driving across our economy and our society.”

As we come together to recognize female trailblazers, we should further our commitment to ending all forms of gender-based violence and discrimination.
